現代においては、2人に1人が悪性腫瘍を患い、3人に1人がそのために命を落とす時代です。どれほど善良な人であっても、突然襲いかかる不条理な運命から逃れることはできません。そのような時、患者さんの傍らにいる私たち医師や医学研究者は何をすべきか――これは医師を志した瞬間から、私が自らに問い続けている命題です。
患者さんの人生に真摯に寄り添い、最新のエビデンスに基づいた最適な治療を多職種と連携して提供すること。そして、現在有効な治療法が存在しない難治性や希少腫瘍に対しても決して諦めることなく、医学のみならず他分野の科学的知見を結集し、患者さんの希望の光となること。これこそが私のライフワークであり、革新的な新規抗腫瘍薬を一日も早く研究・開発することに情熱を注いでいます。
がん患者さんと共に戦う一介の戦士として、どれほど厳しい闘いであっても真摯に課題に立ち向かい、患者さんの笑顔が戻る日を願いながら、基礎研究から臨床開発、次世代の人材育成に至るまで全力を尽くして参ります。
We are committed to supporting patients who are facing the tough reality of malignant tumors, and to fighting cancer with them, even if it is a hard road, with a sincere fighting spirit. That is our mission.
Today, one in two people will be diagnosed with a malignant tumor, and one in three will lose their lives to it. No matter how good a person you are, you cannot escape the unreasonable fate that suddenly visits you. When that happens, what should we doctors and medical researchers do to be beside the patient? This is a question I have been asking myself since the moment I decided to become a medical doctor.
To provide the best treatment based on the latest evidence in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, with a sincere commitment to the patient's life. And to never give up on refractory or rare tumors for which there is currently no effective treatment, but to bring together scientific knowledge from not only medicine but also other fields, and to be a light of hope for all cancer patients.
This is my mission in life, and I am passionate about researching and developing innovative new anti-tumor drugs as soon as possible.
As a fighter together with cancer patients, I will do my best in everything from bench to bed-side and training of the next generation of professionals, while sincerely facing the challenges of the fight, no matter how tough it may be, and hoping for the day when the patients can smile again.
